Why Raybird Fits Europe's Border and Infrastructure Challenges

Europe’s external borders, pipelines, power grids, and coastlines span thousands of kilometers — far more than can be economically patrolled by helicopters or short-endurance drones. Raybird, the fixed-wing UAS developed by Ukrainian manufacturer Skyeton and combat-proven under the designation ACS-3 with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is built specifically for this kind of long-range, long-duration monitoring.

Core specifications relevant to EU deployment:

These figures translate directly into the kind of missions EU border agencies, infrastructure operators, and coast guards are increasingly asking for: full-day coverage of a border strip, a pipeline route, or a stretch of coastline with a single sortie.

Poland

Poland has the longest external EU land border with a non-EU state and has faced a sharp rise in irregular crossing attempts and drone-related security incidents in recent years. In 2025, Skyeton partnered with Polish defense distributor Allies, which now serves as the official distributor of the Raybird UAS in Poland. The agreement is explicitly framed around delivering mission-ready capability to defense, intelligence, and law enforcement customers — positioning Raybird as a tool for sustained border-strip patrolling rather than one-off surveillance flights.

 

Primary use case: continuous monitoring of the Polish–Belarusian and Polish–Ukrainian border sectors, where a single Raybird sortie can patrol a border segment for a full day, detecting and tracking movement in real time and transmitting coordinates for a ground response.

United Kingdom

The UK is Skyeton’s most advanced Western market. Skyeton Prevail Solutions Limited, a joint venture with Prevail Partners — founded by British military veterans — has been validating the Raybird UAS in British Army exercises (including the Iron Titan exercise) ahead of planned sovereign UK manufacturing. Skyeton also maintains a UK office as part of its wider European footprint.

 

Primary use case: defense ISR (intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance) capability building toward UK-based production, plus maritime and coastal surveillance given the UK’s extensive coastline and offshore infrastructure.

Slovakia

Slovakia hosts Skyeton’s first European production facility, opened in Hanišk to secure manufacturing capacity outside a wartime environment. The plant now runs a full production cycle — metalworking, composites, electrical systems, assembly, and testing — and has scaled from an initial $3.5 million investment toward a workforce target of roughly 200 employees.

Primary use case: manufacturing hub for the whole European rollout, but also a natural first deployment site for EU-internal infrastructure and border monitoring given its proximity to Ukraine.

Germany

Germany has become a focal point for airspace-security discussions after a record number of unidentified drone incidents in 2025. Skyeton has presented Raybird at the TUM/HM Security Forum in Gauting, alongside roughly 15 other companies working on counter-UAS detection, classification, and mitigation. Beyond airspace security, Skyeton has demonstrated Raybird’s ability to inspect long infrastructure corridors — covering the route from Bremen to Karlsruhe in under a day, compared to helicopter inspections that typically happen only once or twice a year.

 

Primary use case: high-resolution inspection of long-distance infrastructure corridors (pipelines, power lines, rail) and contribution to national counter-UAS and airspace-security programs. Skyeton maintains a German office as part of this push.

Denmark

Skyeton has announced new partnerships in Denmark as part of its Nordic and Baltic expansion, aimed at extending maritime and border-surveillance capability into Northern Europe.

 

Primary use case: maritime patrol — Raybird’s 24/7 sea-patrol capability supports detection of illegal fishing, drug trafficking, and pollution incidents, which is directly relevant to Denmark’s extensive maritime jurisdiction.

Estonia and the Baltic States

Skyeton maintains an office in Estonia, reflecting the strategic importance of the Baltic states as a frontline region bordering Russia and Belarus. The Baltic coastline and land border present the same long-endurance surveillance need seen in Poland, but with an added maritime dimension.

 

Primary use case: combined land-border and maritime surveillance — patrolling the Baltic coastline for suspicious naval activity while also covering the eastern land border.

Cross-Border Infrastructure Applications Across the EU

Independent of any single country, three infrastructure use cases recur across Skyeton’s European rollout:

 

  1. Power line inspection — Raybird can conduct large-scale inspection of power lines without ground crews, performing aerial imaging, identifying damaged sections and wire positioning, and monitoring high-risk zones at a fraction of the cost of manned inspection flights.
  2. Pipeline and long-corridor infrastructure monitoring — as demonstrated on the Bremen–Karlsruhe route, a single Raybird flight can inspect infrastructure corridors that would otherwise require multiple helicopter flights per year.
  3. Maritime and coastal patrol — with up to 30 hours of endurance, Raybird supports continuous sea patrols for border guards, coast guards, and naval forces, detecting illegal fishing, trafficking, or pollution.
